The choral concert featuring the Frankfurt a cappella jazz ensemble Bird’s Talk, along with a reading by author Elizabeth Horn from her choral mystery novel *Midnight Murders. The Prima Donna’s Last Note*, set to be published this fall, promises to be a very special treat. The mix of bebop, swing, ballads, and pop songs, featuring sophisticated arrangements, quirkyharmonies, and ever-surprising rhythms, performed by a real choir, combined with a witty portrayal of the artistic and emotional entanglements and confusion that every choir singer is likely to recognize from their own rehearsals, guarantees an entertaining evening. Bird’s Talk (conducted by Regina Klein) has become one of the best a cappella ensembles for jazz in Frankfurt and the surrounding area. Fifteen singers deliver an outstanding sound. The Prima Donna’s Last Note The “Schilfrohrsänger” is the name of the village choir in Sangholm. Right after one of their rehearsals, the body of the glamorous Eloise Marchand is found in the choir rehearsal room, with a sheet of music in her mouth bearing a single name. At the same time, recently divorced Chief Detective Jakob Mitternacht ends up in Sangholm of all places, and thus right in the middle of the investigation. Cover: choir member. Mühltal-based author Elizabeth Horn (small photo, known for her Lake Garda mystery series) sang in a choir for the first time at the age of five. Since her writing currently leaves her no time for singing, she decided to write a choir-themed mystery.
