Weststadtcafé in Darmstadt

Since 1998, the Weststadtcafé has been a vibrant hub on the western outskirts of Darmstadt. Amid signal lights and passing trains, this place transforms an industrial backdrop into summer poetry. From April through the end of September, people of all ages gather in the open hall of an old German Federal Railroad car depot to enjoy the city’s long evenings. Whether it’s the beer garden, café, bar, or dance events—the Weststadtcafé has long been a Darmstadt institution, a feeling, a little piece of cultural history. Two bars—one open-air, one behind open gates—create a laid-back and unpretentious atmosphere. Add to that perhaps the city’s most beautiful sunset, a cool drink, and music that oscillates between background ambiance and a heartbeat. On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, our club nights bring lovingly curated music into the night—sometimes relaxed, sometimes ecstatic, always special.
