Hundertwasser's curved housing block with a wooded roof and 105 flats
The story
Hundertwasser disliked straight lines enough to insist that no two windows in the building should be the same, and the Waldspirale delivers more than a thousand different openings. He also insisted on tree tenants, saplings living in the facade as symbolic co-residents with rights of their own. The building was finished in 2000, the year he died at sea, which makes it one of the last of his ideas to be actually built.
