Klause in Darmstadt

The Essbares Darmstadt initiative leases the temple building and its garden at the main train station. The building and garden provide the initiative with space for a wide range of activities and initiatives aimed at making Darmstadt even more environmentally friendly, socially inclusive, and artistically diverse over the next two years, in collaboration with numerous partners. Since 2017, the beer garden—known as “Klause”—has served as a hub for all environmentalists, residents, and gardeners in Darmstadt. You’re welcome to bring your own food and barbecue supplies—ice-cold drinks are available for purchase. This year, in addition to the well-known beer and the now-legendary homemade lemonade, the menu will feature primarily organic wines. Open from May through September: Monday through Saturday starting at 5 p.m., weather permitting.
