Hofgut Oberfeld
A working organic farm with bakery and cafe on the fields east of the city
The story
In the early 2000s residents organised to stop the former Domäne Oberfeld from being turned into housing. By 2006 calves were back in the renovated stables and the first loaves were coming out of a new bakery. Urban climatologists now use the Oberfeld as a textbook cold air corridor: on hot evenings the air off these fields flows toward Mathildenhöhe and on into the city centre.
