Schlosskeller in Darmstadt

The Schlosskeller is an independent business operated by the AStA at TU Darmstadt and has been in operation since 1966 as an event space and club in the vaulted cellar of the castle in the heart of Darmstadt. The development, planning, and execution of events are primarily carried out by students. The Schlosskeller’s program is designed to be diverse and offers something for every taste. This diversity is reflected in various event formats, such as cabaret in the form of the “Kulturhäppchen” series, lectures, movie nights, and concert and club events. Many events are offered on a regular basis, though we’re always striving to optimize our concepts and incorporate new ideas. The pricing policy for food and beverages is generally geared toward a student audience. The Schlosskeller is not a for-profit enterprise, but it does create jobs. It enriches student life—created by students for students, but of course open to everyone else as well. Through volunteer work, all staff members can help shape projects at the Schlosskeller. Work at the Schlosskeller is based on team participation and democratic structures.
