UNESCO World Heritage hill of the Artists' Colony, crowned by the Wedding Tower
The story
Local lore says the Russian Chapel was built not only with bricks made in Russia but on Russian soil shipped to Darmstadt, so that the Tsar could pray on home ground. At the 1901 exhibition the show houses were fully furnished and everything inside was for sale. Whole rooms were bought and shipped across Europe, which made the hill part design shop and part dream factory.
